Hello everyone, my name is Abdirizak Mohamed, I'm from Somalia. I am a student of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture. I came to Turkey for the first time to get high school education. I am currently continuing my education in the field of horticulture and I want to continue pursuing a master's degree. My department is located in the Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Taşlıçiftlik Campus. My department was established in 1982 and started providing undergraduate education in 1983. My department consists of 4 departments, which are the Fruit Cultivation and Breeding, Vegetable Cultivation and Breeding, Vineyard Cultivation and Breeding and Ornamental Plants Cultivation and Breeding Departments. In the Department of Horticulture, we train students who have knowledge and intellect in sub-disciplines, who have advanced environmental awareness and who can work with teams. In our department, we can go to the European Union with Erasmus education mobility and learn more about our department. Our department has a total of 90 acres of application and research area for fruit, vegetables, vineyards and ornamental plants. In our department, pomological, chemical and phytochemical analyses are carried out in the fruit and vegetable laboratory. In our department, preservation studies are carried out in cold storage areas. In addition, tissue culture studies are carried out as well. There are also vine saplings and vegetable seedling production facilities in our department. In our department, there is a 45-day internship obligation in the last semester of the 3rd year. This 45-day compulsory internship can be undertaken both in the field of application and research in our department, in the provincial and district agriculture directorate, and in private institutions. In the second semester of the 4th grade, we complete our dissertation by working with compilations, articles and projects related to our field. We present these theses to the lecturers in the form of a seminar presentation. After graduating from our department, we can work in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, agricultural development and support areas, the private sector, banks, and special provincial administrations. Tokat is a temperate city with a transition zone type climate. It is a suitable region for fruit, vegetable, ornamental plants and vineyard cultivation. This means that a wide variety of plants suitable for our Horticulture Department are located here. That's why I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University. After graduating, I want to contribute to my family and my country. I would recommend Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture to students who love the environment, nature, production and research. They can have a wide range of job opportunities after graduating. In this way, they will start their work one step ahead. I wish good luck to students who will take the exam. We welcome you to Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University.
