Hello friends, I'm Şule Baylan. I am a student of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition. Our faculty and department has a history of 40 years. The Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition studies the physical, chemical and biological properties of soil. It aims to increase productivity and quality in agricultural production by targeting sustainability in agriculture. Graduates of our department are qualified agricultural engineers and scientists. They are qualified to seek answers to and solve agricultural problems in our country. The courses given in my department generally include fundamental science courses such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology, as well as courses in parallel with soil science. Examples of these are Soil Physics, Soil Chemistry, Geology and Geomorphology. Our courses are theoretical and practical. We have 4 laboratories in our department, namely Soil Physics, Soil Chemistry, Soil Biology and Plant Nutrition. At the same time, there are 2 separate device rooms for ICP (Induction Coupled Plasma) and a pure water device. In our department, internships are undertaken in the summer term of the 3rd year. This internship must last 45 work days in total. You can do your internship in a different department within the scope of the interdisciplinary internship for the first 15 days, and in the remaining 30 days, either in your own department or in a different department or where your department deems appropriate. However, in order to graduate, a project assignment which incorporates a scientific framework is prepared, in the light of the knowledge we have gained over 4 years. These studies are not just an assignment that one has to complete. On the contrary, it involves identifying and solving a problem or a subject. It is scientific, and learning continues at every stage. After graduation, you can work as an agricultural engineer in provincial and district agriculture directorates, agricultural institutes, chambers of agriculture and in the public sector affiliated to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Likewise, you can work in the private sector in places like laboratories. Since I am quite interested in botany and agricultural production, I decided to learn about agriculture. I chose this department because the instructors of our department are very innovative and successful. The reason why I chose Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University was that the city of Tokat is a very comfortable and livable place. This is also a city with a lot of cultural diversity. It is a place where you can see the cultural traces of regions such as the Black Sea Region and Central Anatolia. Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, especially the Faculty of Agriculture, is quite established and has a great academic staff. All these facts lead me to choose the city of Tokat and Gaziosmanpaşa University. After graduation, I want to take part in scientific projects related to my field. Therefore, after completing my undergraduate education, I want to continue my graduate education and become an academician. You can easily obtain the experience and knowledge rquired for the field in our university. At the same time, both the campus and the city meets all the needs of the students.
